2024
AUGUST 11th 2024
JULY 2024 We are now accepting applications for the 2024 Avella Fruit CSA season. I expect the season to go from Sunday August 11th to Friday October 25th. It is a banner year for apples, but due to uneven spring weather there are very few plums and pears this year, with almost half of my plum trees with no fruit at all.
2022
AUGUST 2022 The CSA has now started, 2 weeks later than expected as fruit ripening was delayed. We are still accepting clients at this time.
JULY 2022 We expect the 2022 CSA to be a good year. I will be making changes in how payments are made and assigning credits for last year's very off year.
The CSA will run roughly from mid-August to mid-October. Payments will now be AFTER delivery of fruit - either weekly or monthly.
2020
2020.08.02
Our pre-season free "warm-up" boxes contained apricots, pluots, institia plums, a sampling of different berries, fresh spearmint, and fresh peppermint, with a small bundle of lavender on top.
The new (recycled, reusable, recyclable, compostable, mulch-able) brown cardboard boxes seem to be working well.
The smaller plant-based plastic containers (reusable, fully compostable in community facilities but not easily compostable in home systems, recyclable in some community facilities - check the code) have gotten mixed reviews ... positive on convenience, with concerns that they are not as "green" as the boxes. Some have requested using fewer containers, and I will endeavor to do so for those who request it.
The 2020 Fruit CSA sign ups have now started.
The season officially will start August 3rd and run through October 10th. 2020 will be a very different CSA, in this time of pandemic, but the trees continue to be fruitful!
